Kobacher's is where everyone goes to pick up odds and ends. It is definitely knows as the community store of Brewster. Even though there

Tilly Foster Farm
"Too often we overlook the small places in the community. Often,
because those places affect a small number of people, they do not get acknowledged as something great. However, we haven't recognized the importance of a grand place right here in Brewster. Tilly Foster Farm is
very near and dear to my heart. Growing up in Brewster can be like growing up in any town, but Tilly foster Farm made my life special. My mother has worked on the farm for twenty-five years now. She used to
bring me with her some days when I was young. I played with the many dogs there and watched some of the finest racehorses gallop in the paddocks next to Route 312. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. Tilly
Foster Farms was acquired by Mr. E. Benedict on June 27, 1943. The farm consisted of 75 head of cattle, producing 8 to 10 cans of milk daily. So, this beautiful horse farm used to be a dairy farm!
Farm management was quite new to Mr. Benedict, as he was a businessman from New York City. He was determined though to try out
this new interest of his. He added new buildings, modernized old buildings, installed the latest sanitary methods and improved the quality of stock and breeding. He also modernized the dairy and its cooling
system to ensure fresh milk. The employees were high-caliber men who received good wages, homes, heating and lighting, and two free quarts of milk a day."
The farm activities included: the raising of livestock, production of mil,
and the raising of feed. It had chickens, hogs, and cattle too. The cattle numbered 375 head, all top grade animals. (40 Guernsey for creamy quart milk and 165 Holsteins.) This milk was used by Borden Milk
Company as well as the rest of the community.
The farm later changed to become what we know today – a horse farm. Tilly Foster Farm actually was one of the leading thoroughbred farms in
New York State. It has produced many champion horses like 1969's Silent Scream and 1997 DelMar Derby Winner, Anet, to name a few. Recently, the farm has been providing other breeders with knowledge
and care as a breeding facility.
Tilly Foster Farm has enriched Brewster not only with picturesque scenery, but also with a hsitory. A history that helped to develop this
town an its people. I wish that this place will remain a part of the Brewster community for many years to come so future generations can enjoy it the way I have." Alyna S.

Walter Brewster House
"Walter Brewster had accomplished a task that very few towns have
experienced. Walter Brewster constructed over 50 homes and businesses and mapped out Main Street – the Main Street we have now. The Walter Brewster house is furnished with Victorian style furniture –
which is very beautiful and brings tourists to our town." Melissa Young
